Another restaurant adventure! I chose this restaurant totally based on the name and the cool aesthetic. My teenager loves Greek Mythology, so on October 19th 2022 my family and I went to Mythos Restaurant in Universal’s Island of Adventure for dinner.
First Impression
Upon approaching the restaurant you see this mountain with a giant face carved in it. As you enter it looks like you are in a cavern. We were seated within 15 minutes of our reservation at a circular booth with velvet cushions, and provided with menus, and our drink order taken promptly. This place has a classy vibe.
Dining Experience
While the Menu had a lot of Greek influence, it was not exclusively Greek. It included lamb, hummus, spinach, feta, and olives in many dishes, but there was also burgers and grilled chicken. The kids menu covered all the basics from grilled cheese, and pizza to beef medallions and penne with garlic cream sauce for the more advanced child pallets. The drink menu was decent, with a wine and beer list as well as specialty drinks. In the time we were there, I think the only drink I heard ordered at almost every table was "Mythos Potion of the Gods", and for good reason, it was delicious. While we did not have dessert, the dessert menu, though small, looked amazing. Particularly the chocolate-Hazelnut Crème Brulee. If anyone has had that - I'd love a detailed comment about how that was. Our server was fantastic, and very attentive.
Pros and Cons
Pros: Scenery was really cool, Staff were amazing, Food was good, Easy to get a reservation
Cons: a little pricey
Overall Restaurant Rating
Let me be clear on my rating scale here, because I don’t want it to seem harsh. I rate 1-5 stars. If you ever have reviews at your job on their 1-5 scale, its kind of like that.
1 star = falls below standards
2 stars= needs improvement, falls short of expectations
3 stars = meets expectations
4 stars = exceeds expectations
5 stars = entirely another category of awesome – way above target.
So essentially 3 stars is good, rather than mediocre.
