My husband and I went to Antigua in June 2022. We stayed at Coco Bay resort and got one of the add ons of a couples massage, since we were celebrating our 10th anniversary. We had never done this before, and I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the extra splurge.
First Impression
The massage area is beautiful, and you get escorted there by one of the staff members who waits for you in the lobby. Once we arrived at the spa, we were instructed to strip down to our comfort level and lay on the beds. Topaz and Shanika were our masseuses, and they were extremely professional and asked about any injuries, or sensitive areas they needed to be aware of before beginning. The spa is private, only for 1 or 2 people, the beds are comfortable, with an ocean view and everything was clean and well displayed.
Massage Experience
I had never had a couples massage before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's exactly what it sounds like, you, the couple, get a massage lying next to each other. The massage started out with deep tissue, followed by hot stone massage. I never experienced a hot stone massage before, and really didn't know what it was. They have these smooth hot stones that they place along your spine while they continue to massage you. Then they take the hot stones in their hands and massage you with the stones. It relaxed everything. I thought it was amazing. It was really a great way to start out our vacation. The entirety of the massage took about 60 minutes, although you can purchase longer or shorter packages.
Pros and Cons
Pros: Relaxing, Restorative, Great way to start a vacation
Cons: Not included in the all-inclusive, massages are a little on the expensive side.
Overall Massage Rating
In case you are not aware of my rating scale, let me elaborate, because I don’t want it to seem harsh. I rate 1-5 stars. If you ever have reviews at your job on their 1-5 scale, its kind of like that.
1 star = falls below standards
2 stars= needs improvement, falls short of expectations
3 stars = meets expectations
4 stars = exceeds expectations
5 stars = entirely another category of awesome – way above target.
So essentially 3 stars is good, rather than mediocre.

Definitely the right way to start out a vacation. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of spending on extras, but if you want to start out your vacation in relax mode, this is the absolute best way to do it.
